If the price doesn't really matter then I'd probably go for one of Razer:

But I can't assure you that it is the best one (at least from my experience) just because I don't own one. Even so, a lot of people approve this mouse and you hardly can find bad replies.

As for the cheaper variant I do like A4 Tech among others, they are well made and work for years.

I'm using it for like 4 years now, I guess, and it still works perfectly fine. It is a very reliable mouse. Also I like a lot that it suits my hand and is pretty comfortable. All features you can find out by following that link^

Yes, that is why I told him to get one of razer, not exactly naga hex.
For example razer molten http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-mice/razer-naga-molten got them for your left mouse finger but got 12 buttons on one place which won't be so good for fast-action games cause you can miss the button.
You can also get razer with standard placement for those keys http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-mice/ra ... ck-chrome/ or http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-mice/razer-deathadder as examples.
Or even combined http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-mice/razer-imperator anything you like.

Also as I have mentioned - you can stick to A4 Tech.

Quite an old thread, things have changed. I actually ended up buying Razer Naga Hex v1, still using it to this day, unfortunately it's no longer produced, and the new "replacement" from Razer has worse layout and the quality of their products went down hard (my X-718F still works fine by the way, I replaced it with Naga Hex just for the side buttons).

I would break your question on 2 sections and view them separately:

1) Ergonomics. Don't take anyone's advice on this, you have to figure it out on you own. The best way is to go to some nearby shop that has a test mouses set up, so you could sit and just feel how they sit in your hand, then remember the shape of the most comfortable one and narrow your choices to that shape/size. All of the features will be meaningless if you'll not be able to comfortably use your mouse for a prolonged time.

2) Side buttons. Your main question. They are indeed very useful, especially for some classes with many slot-only skills, but I would not go with 12+ side buttons MMO mouses, they're more for slow-paced piano-style MMOs (like WoW, La2, etc.), in fast-paced games you have to have a fast response, precision and a good grip (including your thumb), basically what you're looking for is called MOBA mouse, but unfortunately they aren't very popular and there aren't many of those available. The best example of well-designed MOBA mouse is a Naga Hex, but those are no longer produced, there are other styles like few on top few on bottom, all on front/top/bottom, etc. from most of the well known brands and no-name Chinese ones, just try to find the one that has a thumb-rest positioned where you'll feel comfortable + Ergonomics and go with that. In worst case scenario get the FPS ones with 2-3 side buttons, still better than no buttons or piano on the side. MOBA mouses are also quite useful for work on your computer, as they don't interfere with the grip and give you extra options to boost the speed of your work.

Now Logitech is definitely one of the best choices, although I would not go for the wireless ones ever, from the currently available ones I'd probably go for the G502, if I had to, there are wireless variants as well, but you'll pay way more (at Logitech website - wired $39.99, wireless $89.99) for higher latency and problems with batteries in the future (+extra failure points) just doesn't make any sense, unless you're using it for laptop/console (not on stationary desk). Would love to see Naga Hex v1 replacement from Logitech, but unfortunately established companies do not make MOBA-centric mouses these days, so probably there won't be any time soon, the closest one is G502. After using Naga Hex for so many years, I can hardly imagine my life without at least 4 side buttons

Not sure if it matters still, but personally am using Mad Catz mouse (have Rat 8+ but that's the old model) mostly for the clickers (i somehow manage to wear em out )

And i agree with Kami - no wireless, me likey my rats nest of wires behind desk

So basically ergonomics are your #1 priority. I haven't had much troubles finding comfortable pre-built mouses, so I've never owned one like yours, only tried, what I always wondered though is how troublesome is it to clean one like that?

I'm not a hard-pressing or raging person, so I've never killed any switches nor other buttons (apart of membrane ones, they do tear from wear eventually, that said - that do takes many years and they are easily replaceable, and the glued ones - require re-gluing or replacement), maybe I'm good at buying quality products as well, but I've never killed the ones I haven't bought either. And it's not like I hunted specifically for mouses with "durable" buttons, as I can relatively easily replace any button, be it necessary, durable programmable controllers(ICs) and other irreplaceable components(due to not being sold) would be of more concern for me (that type of stuff is never disclosed for new/unpopular products, as only interested 3rd party person does that). I'm not working as a repairman but I've repaired quite a number of devices with buttons in my lifetime, and what I can say with certainty - modern mobile devices(Phones, Tablets, etc.) are the worst offenders, worst button designs, worst connectors designs,...and the more modern they get the more glue is involved (and when you think about the money involved, it does feel exactly like PC vs Mobile gaming scene ), the moral of the story is - take your time, when you decide on your next mobile device

Dont really clean it, maybe blow dust from time to time, other than that its rather durable, plus i like my mouse to be on heavier side so ability to increase/decrease weight was nice as well.

Previously i had some kind of logitech (dont remember which) and right switch just gave out (double/tripple clicks) fixed it a couple of times but it would gave out soon again, dont remember why i didnt replace whole switch tho. And that mouse held out about a year
